dedication ...

The Five Hundred and Ninety-Fourth Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment of the Fourth Engineer Special Brigade is a name dear to the hearts of more than two thousand soldiers and known to many thousands more. To the men of the Regiment it is THEIR outfit and there is no other like it. To their friends in uniform and to their families back home this name typifies the zenith in pride. It is for them that this history is written as a permanent dedication.

Our devotion to our Regiment was surpassed only by that we gave to God and our Country.

This will be the source book for stories to be told and retold to children and grandchildren in a free world in the years to come. The memories contained in these printed pages are many and are as diversified as the characters who figure in them. When our senses finally fail us and we ask younger eyes to read, may the life and breath of our Regiment, as it is written here, rekindle that pride within us.

our colonel....

OFFICERS AND ALL RANKS PRESENT OR DEPARTED:

With Victory once again assured, and the demobilization of our Armed Forces now being affected, it is fitting at this time, that we place in print the historyof the 594th Task Group, in order that we may be able to refresh our memory of the happy, as well as the unhappy, memories of our service in defense of our beloved  country.

The cooperation exemplified between all components of the Task Group - the 594th EB & SR, 3016th EBM Co. and Detachment #3 164th Ord Co - has contributed more than any other factor  to our success. Your record, as told in this booklet and as contained in official documents of the War Department, is a Memorial to your efforts.

Accomplishments throughout the life of the organization has exemplified the high character and training of its personnel. I am deeply gratified to be your Commanding Officer and am further grateful for the leadership given by our Brigade Commander as well as the training and leadership given the organization by each of its three former Commanders.

I take this opportunity to commend and personally thank each of you for your work with the organization and wish each of you God Speed and good luck in the future.

Carl Y Farrell
Colonel, C.E. Commanding
