Bob,

Some time ago I received an inquiry from Ephraim P Hansell regarding my father, Herbert Warren Canipe, who served with Company B of the 594th EB&SR in the Pacific in WWII. Unfortunately, my father passed away in 1992 after a bout with cancer.

However, I have visited your Web site, and saw where you requested donations of pictures from the Pacific theater in WWII. I have a total of 14 pictures that I would like to share with you for use on your Web site and in sharing with other members of your WWII outfit.

. Listed below is what I know about each picture, which unfortunately is not too much:

Canipe1

This is a picture of the company Dad was a part of. Dad is in the back row, last person on the right.

Canipe2
This is obviously a fun picture of Dad and a couple of his buddies modeling locale native grass skirts. Dad is on the left, and the person on the right may have a last name of Pruitt.

Canipe3
A picture of Dad and two buddies on a boat. Dad is on the left. I have no idea of the location, although I know Dad was in New Guinea and Finchaven.

Canipe4

Dad is on the left in this picture. The person kneeling may be Pruitt.

Canipe5
Dad is on the right in this picture. I do not know the name of the other person.

Canipe6
Another grass skirt picture. Dad is in the middle. The person on the left may be Pruitt.

Canipe7
Dad and Pruitt? in a boat. Dad in the back.

Canipe8
Dad and Ries? in a boat made from airplane fuel tanks.

Canipe9
Group picture of Dad and friends. Names provided here are all I have, and I cannot swear to the accuracy. Back row left to right Day, Gunn, Brown,Pearson. Front row left to right Canipe, Viera, and maybe Taylor. I don't know the names of the other two.

Canipe lO
This is the boat Dad served on in Finchaven. I do not have names for the guys on the boat.

Canipe ll
Dad on right with some buddies and local natives. Looks like a loading pier.

Canipe 12
Dad is second from right in the back row. I'm sorry that I do not have names for the other guys in the picture.

Canipe 13
Dad and three others on a boat ramp. Dad is second from right. Pruitt may be second from left.

Canipe14
Picture of boats and bull dozer. Dad in on the boat ramp on the right. I do not know the names of the other guys.

This is all of the pictures that I have. I would be very interested if any of the other people in the pictures can be identified, and of course I would like for you to share these with any members of Dad's former outfit who would be interested.
