THE 564TH BOAT MAINTENANCE BATTALION, 4TH ENGINEER SPECIAL BRIGADE

This page is dedicated to the men of the 564th Boat Maintenance Battalion who sometimes worked in 24 hour tours of duty without rest to keep the landing craft afloat and operating. From New Guinea to Japan, by way of New Britain and the Philippines, they did their job and helped defeat the enemy.

One of these men of the 564th., Paul Cosby, now 50 plus years later, in the VA     Hospital  in Houston, Texas has spent a lot of these years battling the effects of his wounds received in Manila, PI., and the debilitating effects of Malaria. Here is a photo of Paul taken on 8 July 1999 and a photo taken in uniform in 1943.
